Are you looking for an escape from the wilting heat and pollution of summer in the city? The silence, the clean air and the profusion of nature’s beauty around Breathe Easy will relax and restore you.

In the summer the Saugeen River System offers canoeing, kayaking and rafting, while the many small lakes, Georgian Bay and Lake Huron offer daytrips to the beach.

Breathe Easy is not directly on water but, as a result, it provides privacy, safety and peaceful surroundings, uncluttered and free of the heavy traffic and noise typical of a waterfront rental.

We are close enough to many beaches, large and small, that it is easy to make a trip out to let the kids enjoy playing in the sand and water, but adults and children alike will enjoy wandering our 140 acres of pristine woods and fields, playing volleyball, sitting under the stars around our firepit, discovering our secret garden, or playing in our large yard – all in complete privacy with no worries about disturbing the neighbours.

If you want to swim, the nearest beach is about 15 minutes away at the Durham Conservation Area. It has two roped off swimming areas for kids, playground equipment, waterfalls, parkland, trails and picnic spots. It is an easy walk to get an ice cream downtown. There are also many rivers and smaller lakes near Breathe Easy which offer unique swimming opportunities. At the base of our property is the Styx River which is good for fishing or wading in spots. (We do not recommend it for small children.) Several of these places are described in our information binder at the cottage.

The larger beaches on Georgian Bay and Lake Huron are 30-45 minutes away, a pleasant drive for longer outings on a hot day. Kelso Beach is in Owen Sound and there are large sandy beaches at Southampton, Port Elgin and Sauble Beach on Lake Huron.

We offer the space and privacy, indoors and out, for a truly relaxing time away from the busyness of daily life. So bring family and friends together to kick back and take it easy at Breathe Easy Cottage. The water is just a pleasant country drive away.

We have lots of outdoor games and equipment for children and you can go for an outing to Storybook Gardens or Harrison Park (in Owen Sound) to play mini-golf and enjoy their other children's attractions.

And you can make a stop at the Bruce Trail and many other trail systems along the way. There is a wealth of country hiking opportunities, and winding country roads offer bicycle, motorcycle and car tours galore.
